Beautiful and unusually large SAICO GmbH Seiffen German Erzgebirge Schwibbogen / Lichterbogen, featuring intricate multi-layered wood fretwork and traditional candle-style lighting. Made in Germany and bearing its original “Original Handarbeit Erzgebirge” label, this impressive piece measures approximately 26 inches wide. SAICO specializes in handcrafted Erzgebirge wooden folk art and light arches, with elaborate scenes constructed from multiple layers to create depth. The detailed woodland scene includes figures, trees, animals, fencing and a hanging lantern surrounded by 10 candle/flame lights. The numerous layers of finely cut natural wood give the scene wonderful dimension even when displayed unlit. Original electrical label reads SAICO GmbH SEIFFEN – Germany and identifies this as a Lichterbogen Erzgebirge. CONDITION – PLEASE READ. The electrical lights DO NOT CURRENTLY WORK. I attempted basic troubleshooting, including changing/checking the fuses and plug, but was unable to get the lights working. I have not attempted further electrical diagnosis or repair. There is also damage to several, four by my count, of the delicate wooden candle/flame tips, with broken and/or missing portions visible in the photographs. Because this is an extremely intricate, delicate piece of fretwork with many small cut wooden elements, there may be additional minor imperfections that I have overlooked. Please enlarge and examine all photographs carefully for the exact condition. The primary scenic composition remains impressive and highly decorative. This would make a wonderful restoration project for someone familiar with German Christmas lighting or Erzgebirge woodcraft, or it could simply be displayed unlit.
